CARVE Core Documentation

Project Overview

CARVE Core grew out of Cislune’s internal CARVE rover project. It is being developed as a commercially available rover platform for researchers, students, university clubs, and other groups that need a mobile base for their projects. By providing the core rover hardware, CARVE Core allows users to spend less time developing basic mobility systems and more time working on their mission-specific equipment and software.

Every CARVE Core chassis will use the same electrical and modular framework, allowing modules to work across multiple chassis designs. Options will range from fully 3D-printed designs to more involved sheet-metal assemblies requiring laser cutting, bending, and welding. Each design will prioritize straightforward manufacturing, making the rover easier for users to reproduce and more practical for Cislune to produce. Cislune will also provide fabricated parts, build instructions, and detailed documentation so users can assemble the rover and develop their own compatible modules.

The base electrical system will provide basic movement, module support, and wireless communication through Bluetooth and/or Wi-Fi. More powerful hardware, such as an onboard computer, can be added when a project requires additional processing. Leaving that computer out of the standard configuration keeps the base rover simple, affordable, and easy to customize.

Self-Manufactured

Use the build guide and downloadable CAD files to manufacture a chassis without ordering a kit.
